Angelo and Veronica: A Church Service With A Heavenly Connection
October 30, 2009

Being the CEO of Equation Audio and co-founder of another well-known brand of microphones, the opportunity to hear the products bearing the brand name of our company occurs frequently, although the venue may vary broadly. Thursday night, October 29th, was one of those opportunities that ranged towards the rare in terms of venue type, but by evening’s end, extraordinary nonetheless.
I met Angelo in a small restaurant in the Brentwood area, southwest of the metro area of Nashville, accompanied by a mutual friend. Angelo wanted to thank me for developing a microphone that ‘finally’ reproduced his wife, Veronica’s very powerful and complex voice, clearly and accurately, while not coloring any of the various textures she produces while singing with intensity and great range. In kind, I’m always interested in new endorsements for our products. He gave me a CD and I left returning to my office. My son Zac, an exceptional pianist and vocalist in his own right was with me and I asked him to play the CD. When the first song hit the speakers, Zac and I immediately looked at one another with surprise. Song after song, the level of vocal and musical talent expressed by Angelo and Veronica simply BLEW US AWAY!
A few months later, I got an email inviting us to a church service. The facility was a medium sized meeting room in the Cool Springs, Embassy Suites hotel, with a stage, a sound system, keyboard and guitar. Angelo and Veronica record most of the background music and vocals and perform with the prerecorded tracks in place of a band. When you hear the orchestration you quickly understand why. But the lead vocals were all live, sung through our own Equation Audio, hand-held, vocal mics, model DS-V11. It quickly occurred to me that trying to adequately describe their abilities actually requires you hear their voices live, singing individually or together or finishing a dual language song as an unforgettable duet, executing perfect harmonies at ranges border lining the impossible and to really intensify the moment, a capella.
Intense, aggressive, articulate, dynamic and other adjectives don’t accurately describe their level of competence, because their stage presence, performing expression, since of purpose, confidence all, can be further expressed with words like extraordinary, exceptional, amazing and a list of other words that tend to enlarge, impress, express and enhance various characteristics of people and materials and experiences. Yet the impact of these words remains ethereally insufficient, so I defer to a far more talented inventor, our collective Creator. If blessings of talent and relationships are assigned or given, then Angelo and Veronica are the quintessential hosts of Great Blessings and fortunately for all who experience their talent, they share their extraordinary gifts with Grace and Enthusiasm. If you’re fortunate enough to experience them live, you’ll leave with an overwhelming feeling that you were given a gift as well, a special one from above.
